Chestermere Lake & Surrounding Homes Photo by Dawn
Originally a lakeside summer village, in the last decade the town of Chestermere has grown rapidly, earning the title of fastest-growing municipality in Alberta. This bedroom community is only 25 kilometres from Calgary's downtown core, and features the 750 acre Chestermere Lake, the heart of this family-focused community. Over 19,500 people live in Chestermere's 6,250 homes.
The Chestermere real estate market contains primarily detached single-family houses in a diverse range of styles, including bungalows, split-level homes, and 2-storey homes. You can also find a smaller selection of attached homes in duplex, villa, and townhouse styles. As Chestermere continues to expand, there are also more apartment-style condo developments popping up. And of course, if you're into lakeside living, there are a number of properties surrounding the lake that have access to public and private dock space. A number of homes in Chestermere come with breathtaking views of the lake.
Chestermere is all about family. Here, the focus is on building a strong commmunity, great schools, safe streets, and lots of recreational opportunities. Chestermere Lake is the hub of town activity: here, local families swim, windsurf, and fish in the summer, while winter weather means it's time to bring out the skates. In additon to the lake, Chestermere also has its own 18-hole golf course, fun family-friendly annual events, and acres of parkland and multi-use pathways. There's also the Chestermere Recreation Centre, the local skate and bike park, and many sports and rec clubs to join for both kids and adults.
Communiting to Calgary from Chestermere is effortless: both Highway 1 and Highway 14 will take you directly into the city, and both routes link up with the Stoney Trail ring road and the Deerfoot Trail. So in addition to Chestermere's local selection of stores, recreational facilities, and services, residents also have fast and easy access to everything Calgary has to offer.

It's a tight-knit community with many local and annual events, including Winterfest, a great way to kick off the new year; the Water Festival in July, when we celebrate summer on the lake; and Chestermere's Art and Culture Days, where you can experience Chestermere's fantastic arts community.
